I’m a little late in the game, seeing as how it’s Good Friday today, but I figured a late Easter craft is better than no Easter craft. 🙂
I found this Easter wreath on someone else’s blog and I thought it was perfect for my two boys and I to do together. What I like about it is that as they are coloring and glueing, you are reading to them the story of Easter Week. The story is glued onto the wreath in the shape of little Easter eggs.
Here is her link on how to make it. It includes the printable story eggs and pictures.
We had a ton of fun making it, and it turned out so cute! We hung it on the front door as soon as we were finished.
I want to share with you, though, a few changes that I made to our Easter Wreath.
First of all, I had trouble getting the story egg printables to print, so I made my own in Microsoft Word (I just copied and pasted the pictures in). It was easy…if I can do it, anyone can. 🙂
Once I printed everything out, I sat the boys at their little work bench and they colored everything.
After they got everything all colored and scribbled on, I promptly turned on a handy-dandy Reptiles DVD 🙂 to keep them occupied while I cut everything out. There was a lot of cutting to do.
Once I cut all of the pictures and story eggs out, I laminated them. I want this to last forever! 🙂
Next I cut out a cardboard “wreath”. I used a cake container to measure out a large circle.
I decided to go all froo-froo on my boys’ Easter wreath and cover it in some gold burlap. Hey, it’s going on the front door, ok? 🙂 I also tied a little purple raffia on top.
Cutting is done and Reptiles DVD is over…time to bring the boys back in!
They helped me glue the pictures and story eggs onto the wreath. We started at the 12:05 position with the “Jesus enters Jerusalem Egg” and corresponding pictures and finished at the 11:55 position with the “The Holy Spirit Comes Down” egg and pictures.
I like that she added in a Pentecost egg and picture.
We had a fantastic time crafting, and even better conversation. I love my children so much, and I want nothing more for them than to love and grasp the Gospel. Maybe this sweet little wreath will help them understand. 🙂
BY THE WAY!!! Today is the last today to get your Guest Post entries in! I am truly looking forward to reading what is on all of your minds. 🙂
