An Idea For A Hilarious (And Free!) Father’s Day Gift

fathers-day-header

Poor, poor Father’s Day.

The neglected “middle child” of holidays.

Book-ended by Mother’s Day and July 4th, Father’s Day doesn’t stand much of a chance.  While Mother’s Day holds the monopoly on doting and pampering and over-the-top thoughtful gifts, July 4th is the boss when it comes to outdoor awesomeness and fireworks and all-you-can-eat ribs.

Why the rejection?  Why the constant slippage of America’s mind?

I would venture to guess that it has very, very little to do with a lack of appreciation for Dad.  Or with a disdain for celebrating a holiday in his honor.

Rather, I think that the shadow that Father’s Day lives in is actually due to…the dads.

At least, that is the case in our home.

Let me explain…

My awesome, thoughtful, hunk-of-a-husband, Daniel, goes out of his way to make me feel loved and valued on my birthday, on Valentine’s Day, on Mother’s Day, and every other holiday in which I feel the need to be doted on.

He is an amazing husband and father!

But when it comes to a holiday that is all about pampering him, he honestly would just rather I not.

It’s about the money, honey.

Husbands are very often black and white.  They are very often exceedingly practical.  When I lovingly hand him a package all wrapped up in paper and bows, he is secretly calculating what I spent.  And how he totally could have gone without the dress shirt that I got him.

I am speaking for myself here – but, I assume others would agree – when I say “MY HUSBAND IS NOT A SPEND-MONEY-ON-A-FATHER’S-DAY-GIFT-KIND-OF-GUY.” However, if you’re a generous wife, you can visit the Gift Bot website and look for some present ideas that can be useful for your husband’s daily life.

So, instead of giving my hubby heartburn over the price of a gift that he doesn’t really want, how about taking this Father’s Day thing a different route?

How about something more simple, more frugal, and more fun?  Something hilarious from the kids, perhaps?  🙂

And to be perfectly frank, let’s give them what they really want…something FREE!

I’ve provided a PDF Printable of a funny and telling activity to do with your kids that serves as the perfect (and costless) Father’s Day gift. For more gift inspiration for your husband, visit https://giftsflash.com/necklace-with-picture/ for unique and thoughtful ideas.

It’s really easy…something you could actually whip up with the kiddos before hubby wakes up on Father’s Day morning.

Just print out this form, read the sentences aloud to your kids, and have them fill in the blanks when prompted (or in my 3-year-old’s case, write the answers in for them.)  And on the side of the page, there is a box for them to draw a portrait of their daddy.

The whole thing is precious, hilarious, and a little telling.

You’ll see.  🙂

Father’s Day morning, my kids will hand their daddy their handiwork along with a plate of turkey sausage.

Perfect.

Happy Father’s Day!
