Homemade [Organic] Popcorn in 2 Minutes

homemade popcorn title

So, it’s Friday. And I don’t know about you, but I plan on hanging out with my hubby and watching a movie on the couch… with popcorn.

I ate popcorn all the time growing up.  My dad loved it so much, that mom bought him an official movie popcorn maker when I was in kindergarten.  It was giant, and yellow, and made the best popcorn all by it’s self.

Unfortunately I can’t use it now, mainly because we sold it, and I don’t live with my parents.  So, my immediate alternative is to pull out a bag of ol’ Orville and pop up some steaming hot cancer.

No thanks.

My sister is on the right track. She cooks her popcorn in a pot on the stove.  So, on one hand I am cooking with less chemicals, but I’ve now made a huge mess in my kitchen.  Which we all know I won’t clean up until 4:45 p.m. tomorrow right before I have to cook dinner and mess it up again. Plus, it probably takes a lot of time to hang out over that stove and baby those little kernels until they feel loved enough to POP for me.

I’m tired just talking about it.  There has to be another way.  And guess what?…

I found it. The perfect recipe for homemade popcorn IN YOUR MICROWAVE.

It’s organic, tasty, a money saver, and did I mention, only takes 2 MINUTES?

Well, I’ll say it again… 2 MINUTES.

Your night just got so much better.  Now you can spend more time hanging out with your hubby doing what you really want to do.  Watching the entire “Back to the Future” series on Netflix. Oh, you didn’t know it was on there? I guess that’s two gifts I’m giving you for Friday.

You’re. Welcome.

Enjoy!

Hi, I’m Katie. I am new at this stay-at-home-mom thing, and I live in the deep HOT south. My days can be long and tiring at times, but I want to bring glory to God daily by loving my closest neighbors… my family. It is a calling, and I count it all joy. My days are spent playing outside with my son, sitting in a rocking chair with my “sweet potato” of a baby girl, and cooking yummy gut-healing food for my hubby. I am so excited to have the opportunity to write blog posts for AGoodTired and I hope you will find as much laughter and encouragement here as I have.

Katie, sounds like an easy and good alternative to both methods (stovetop and microwaveable).
Thank you, we will try it!

If the the “old man” of your family takes after his grandpa Hurtte, you may be in for a life of nightly popcorn. Back when I was a kid, popcorn was one of the first things I learned to cook. Every evening about 8:00 my dad would say, “who wants some popcorn” and the first kid to raise their hand was charged with cooking it. When I was about 10 or so, he had a buddy who raised popcorn who let us pheasant hunt on his property. The machines had already picked the field but the ground was scattered with stray ears of popcorn and we filled our hunting vests with as much as we could carry. When we got home, we had popcorn shelled straight from the ear. And, we had lots of it. My grandmother Ula Hurtte, never one to lean toward healthy snacks, was the queen of home made caramel corn.
