As adults, we often forget how complex the seemingly simplest little maneuvers are. Holding a fork correctly, grasping a pen properly, even things like snapping and holding up fingers to count…all of these “fine motor skills” are not at our disposal starting at birth!
For brand new toddler minds, these motor skills can be quite challenging and frustrating! How often have you seen your preschooler try to mimic the way you snap your fingers, only to end in a fury of silent finger movements? Or desperately try to hold up three fingers, only to end in a painful, strange-looking contortion of digits?
This is not an area that we have to leave them alone to figure it all out! There are actually fun games, similar to 카지노 검증, that you can play with your child that enhance these fine motor skills and prepare them for writing!
This particular game is fun for your child to play and easy to set up! If this is the first time to work with your child at a game such as this one, be prepared to take baby steps (especially if your child is prone to easily becoming frustrated!). Add to or remove as much of this game as suits your child.
Transfer the Objects Using Tongs
What You Need:
- 1. Several sheets of paper
- 2. Four bowls
- 3. Pair of tongs (like for grilling)
- 4. Pair of tweezers
Set-Up:
- Crumple up eight to ten larger paper balls (about the size of a tennis ball) and eight to ten smaller paper balls (about the size of a large marble).
- Place all of the larger balls in one bowl, and all of the smaller balls in another bowl.
- Set the two remaining empty bowls nearby.
How To Play:
- Bring in your child, and happily explain to him that you need some help moving paper balls.
- Show him the bowl of small paper balls first. Tell him that all of these little balls need to be moved to that empty bowl, but you can’t touch them with your hands.
- Then show him the pair of tweezers. Demonstrate how you use tweezers to pick up an object (this make take a minute or two).
- Ask him if he can help you move all of the paper balls to the empty bowl by picking them up and dropping them with the tweezers. Remember, the more excited and animated you are, the more willing they will be to try it!
- Do the same thing with the bowl of large paper balls and the pair of tongs. My Rudy likes it when I add in sound effects…a “beeping” tractor noise when he picks up a ball and a “crashing” sound when he drops it in the bowl. Do what needs to be done! 🙂
The more this game is played, the better at it and more confident your child will become. It amazes me how spending just a few minutes playing the simplest little game can set a child up for such success! These “pre-writing skills games” are a valuable tool for preparing your children to write their name for the very first time! 🙂
