I want to update all of my friends, family, and readers…we have been blessed with a sweet little girl! Maralyn Mae Souers was born on Friday, June 14. (2 weeks early!) She weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces.
I have already washed my very first load of all girl clothes, and when I opened up the washing machine to take it all out it looked like the inside of a pink cotton candy machine! 🙂 Our lives are already changing in so many ways!
Our two rough and tumble boys have been surprisingly gentle and affectionate…in the best way they know how. 🙂 They have done such sweet things as toss their favorite toys into the cradle with her, “pet” her head, and feed her pieces of bread. And of course, they have been well-prepped by their Daddy in the importance and art of defending little sisters against all forms of evil.
So now, my first day back at home, I am enjoying the help of my mother-in-law and trying to get back into the swing of baby world. I had forgotten how sweet the little things are, like the smell of their heads and the pure enjoyment of dressing them in new outfits. I had also forgotten the extent of the exhaustion! 🙂
In my next post, I’m looking forward to sharing with you a monumental lesson that I learned while in the hospital. It truly was a sanctifying and humbling experience…an experience that we never could have planned for. Looking forward to sharing on Friday!

June 24, 2013 at 7:14 pm (12 years ago)Hey Lauren I just wanted to say congratulations! Little Maralyn looks beautiful- I knew you were going to have a girl I could just feel it. I can’t wait until I can see her and the boys again! I tried to pump Jacob for information about little Maralyn, but of course he didn’t say much except that she was “really, really tiny”. I hope you are all doing well!
