I pushed the “upload” button before I could talk myself out of it…
…and now – ready or not – here it is!
Katie and I, along with a few hilarious and awesome friends, put together a little something for you…a mommy parody video of “Let It Go.”
Why did we put ourselves out there in a way that is COMPLETELY out of our comfort zone?? Because, we believe that motherhood for so many is devoid of grace. That motherhood for so many has become an exhausting and unenjoyable striving for perfection. That it’s time to relax…and laugh. 🙂
So, in a tribute to “letting it go” and hanging up the Paleo Crown…
Enjoy!
(Below the video, you will find the lyrics typed out.)
“Let It Go” – Mommy Parody
The toys lay thick on the carpet,
Not a bare spot to be seen.
Rather than play with my children,
I freak out and decide to clean.
Imitating SuperMom is what keeps me locked inside.
There’s no perfect mom, Heaven knows I’ve tried.
Don’t let them in, don’t let them see.
Keep that image of impeccability.
Suppress, don’t bless, don’t let them know!
Well, now they know!
Let it go! Let it go!
Can’t keep this up anymore.
Let it go! Let it go!
Share your mess and open the door!
I don’t care
What they’re going to say.
Let the mess remain.
The toys never bothered me anyway!
It’s funny how important,
Such minor things can seem.
Clean toilets, shabby chic, and paleo
Were my selfish, paltry dream.
It’s time to breathe, to know the truth.
To rest in grace, not in what I can do.
No act, no show, no guilt for me!
I’m free!
Let it go! Let it go!
I’m fine with my pigsty.
Let it go! Let it go!
Imperfection I no longer hide.
Here I am.
And here I’ll stay.
Let the mess remain.
My kid’s drool permeates the carpet and my clothes.
My hair’s not been washed since how long? No one knows.
But one thought keeps my greasy head held up high.
I’m not defined by that!
Hang up the phony hat!
Let it go! Let it go!
Let a new day of freedom dawn.
Let it go! Let it go!
That perfect mom is gone!
Here I stand
In the light of grace.
Let the mess remain.
The toys never bothered me anyway!
